Querschlag

The “Querschlag” connects two ore deposits which proceed from south-east to north-west through the district of Neubulach, the so-called “Lange Strecke”.

He was presumably used about 1750 for the last time. Today the complete “Lange Strecke” and the “Querschlag” is not accessible any more. You can find no ores in the “Querschlag”, so you can assume that its profile had the typical medieval dimensions: about 60 cm wide and approx. 120 cm high.

In the Middle Ages the galleries were produced in pure hand work with “Schlegel” and “Eisen” (miner´s term for “hammer and chisel”). The average driving of a miner reached 1 to 2 cm on a surface of 1 m2 in one day.
